15th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet

Open Dates: Dec. 21, 2017 through Feb. 7, 2018
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announces the release of the 15th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Phase I Request for Applications (RFA). This collegiate design competition promotes the use of scientific and engineering principles in creating innovative projects to address challenges and develop real world solutions. This RFA is seeking applications in the research areas of air quality, clean and safe water, land revitalization, and safer chemicals in the marketplace.

Urban Green Infrastructure Summit

Join the Western Center for Metropolitan Extension and Research’s Urban Green Infrastructure Summit on Feb 21 & 22 at the Embassy Suites in Tigard, OR. This summit will connect government and agency personnel, University researchers, and Extension professional, to create new collaborative networks, identify research and education priorities, and share existing resources.

Washington Section American Water Resources Association 2017 – 18 Fellowship Announcement

The Washington State Section of the American Water Resources Association (AWRA) is seeking nominations for its 2017 – 18 Fellowship Award. For the 2017 – 18 academic year two fellowships will be given. One award will be to a member of a Washington Section affiliated Student Chapter. The other award will go to a student enrolled in a graduate program at a college or university in Washington State. Both fellowships are for a full-time graduate student completing an advanced degree in an interdisciplinary water resources subject. In addition to $2000 in cash, the award includes a one-year membership in both the State and National AWRA, a one-year subscription to the Journal of the American Water Resources Association, and admission to the Washington State Section Annual Conference.

WRC/PNNL SULI Water Internship Program – Summer 2020

The State of Washington Water Research Center (WRC) is pleased to be partnering with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to offer undergraduate internship opportunities to WSU undergraduates who are interested in water resources.

This new internship experience operates within the existing Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) Program, but aims to facilitate water-related learning opportunities specifically between WSU undergraduates and PNNL researchers.

FY 2018 WRC National Competitive Grants Program Call for Proposals

Deadline: Feb 15, 2018
Proposals are sought on the topic of improving and enhancing the nation’s water supply, including evaluation of innovative approaches to water treatment, infrastructure design, retrofitting, maintenance, management, and replacement; exploration and advancement of our understanding of changes in the quantity and quality of water resources in response to a changing climate, population shifts, and land use changes; development of methods for better estimation of water supply, both surface and groundwater, including estimation of the physical supply and of the economic supply of water; development and evaluation of processes and governance mechanisms for integrated surface/ground water management; and the evaluation and assessment of conservation practices.
