Balasingam Muhunthan is the Department Chair and a Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at WSU Pullman. He is also the Director for the Washington Center for X-ray and Imaging Technology (WACXIT) and the Director Washington State Transportation Center (TRAC). Balasingam has a BS and PhD in Civil Engineering with an MSCE in Geotechnical Engineering. He research interests cover thermomechanics and constitutive modeling, bifurcations and instabilities in geomechanics, microstructure characterization and simulation of geomaterials, pore-scale modeling of fluid flow, micropiles, and fundamentals of soil behavior.
