Center of Excellence for Water Second International Symposium on Applied Water Research in Private and Public Sectors

The Center is a USAID-funded project with the overall goal to develop Egypt’s water resources to benefit the Egyptian economy and its people. The Center serves the needs of the Egyptian economy, including industry, and supports the government to face water challenges, developing policies, and preparing the next generation of graduates and entrepreneurs. The main activities of the Center focus on curriculum reform, capacity development, commercialization of high-quality applied research, and technology transfer to aid in achieving Egypt Vision 2030 goals.

Ain Shams University (ASU) is the Egyptian partner university organizing the symposium in 2023.

The symposium will address the main five topics identified in the national research roadmap (NWRRM) under the oversight of the Center’s Research and Policy Committee (RPC):

• Water Use Efficiency
• Integrated Water Resources Management
• Safe Treated Wastewater
• Non-conventional Water Resources
• Remediation and Restoration of Water Bodies.

Each of the research topics will be discussed thoroughly in a unique dedicated session using multiple approaches, including:

1. new advances and technology,
2. applied research projects,
3. challenges and opportunities within the public sector, and
4. challenges and opportunities of the private sector.
